10 Days in Utah

Great Thanksgiving Break!

Highlights:
- Visiting Grandma and Grandpa Salisbury and interviewing them about the Korean War days. Learned about how they met and learned that not only does Tyrel look like Elvis, but he is the spitting image if his Grandpa.  Very handsome.
- Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows PT 1.... IMAX. HUGE. AWESOME!
- Apples to Apples.  Teaching Parker the importance of respecting the Celine Dion card.  Tam's determination to beat me. She wishes....
- Lunch with some of the best friends I've ever had or ever will have.
- Julia being afraid of beards.  Eric and Clint, it's nothing personal. Julia loves you.
- Seeing happy grandparent's faces as they interact with Julia.
- Julia stealing toys from cousin David, who could care less.
- Brian and Kayla visiting.
- New words and noises: "baby", "night, night", tongue click, growling, smacking lips
- Julia learning to get down from standing.
- T-Day at Clint and Abby's. "Do tourists go to Heaven?", "Watch out or you'll get nailed", excuse my language "Oh Hell!"
- Yummy Dinners
- The biggest STORM EVER!
- And so much more...

Love the Holidays!  Can't wait to see all the Utah family and friends during Christmas!

Family Pictures

Our very first professional family photo shoot! We had such a fun time having these pictures taken.  You can't tell in these photos, but Julia was rather cranky.  It took a lot to get the smiles out of her, but luckily our photographer was on the ball and captured the split second smiles. I love the more candid pictures she took when we weren't looking. These are just a few of our favorites so we thought we would share them with you.

Half an hour later....

Here's one little cute one I got to post... I love picasa.

Sorry for the delay...

For some reason it takes forever long to post pictures and videos.  I think it has something to do with our internet connection. This is the reason for the lack of posting.  I do apologize to all of our active followers (are you out there???). I tried again today, but no luck.  It truly is unfortunate because we got a new video camera that shoots in HD and has a program to make it super simple to upload videos to the internet. There is a lot of adorable Julia footage I hope to one day share with all of you.  For now I will give you an update via words...

Julia is now 7 months old.  For the longest time we wondered if she would ever learn to army crawl or just go straight to crawling.  Then bang, one night she would just get in her hands and knees and wobble back and forth, the next day I almost lost her when she army crawled into the kitchen and under the table. Now she armys everywhere!  The other day I had left her in the living room to play with toys while I did my hair.  Next thing I knew I felt a little hand on my foot...our first game of hide and seek :)

Despite the joy that being mobile has brought to Julia, she has been in some pain lately.  All four of her top teeth are coming in at the same time. Two have broken skin and two are just about there. The funny thing is the two on the sides are coming in before the middle ones. Before we saw the middle two on their way I feared her cute little smile would have a few bad days.  In my mind I pictured the two side teeth completely in with a huge gap in the front...Kinda weird.  I'm sure she would have rocked that look anyway.

Tyrel has just about made it to midterms.  From about 8 to 5 ever day he is either at work or school.  Julia and I love when he is able to come home and play at the end of the night.  Of course, now that sports are in full swing, there isn't a whole lot of hang out time.  Tyrel and I are on a softball team together, then each on individual flag football teams.  I'm also playing competitive soccer which means practice twice a week and games on the weekends.  Sometimes I feel we are over scheduled, but it is so much fun!  We love our sporting events!

Well, there's an update for you.  Sorry again about the lack of pictures and video. I will keep on searching out alternatives.

Recent Happenings

Grandma and Grandpa Pehrson came up for a visit to see our new place and help us clean some carpets.
The Salisbury's came up a couple weeks earlier to help us move.  Thanks family for being there for us!

Julia spit-up in Mom's mouth...directly into Mom's mouth!

Learning to sit up on her own

Loves to roll over on her tummy...followed by crying and squirming.  Apparently she has forgotten that she learned how to roll over from stomach to back long before she learned back to stomach. So she lays on her tummy and cries until you help her flip back over. Silly girl.

Learning to eat rice from a spoon.  Slow learner...but a super cute learner at that!

Going out for walks and jogs everyday.  Sure-fire way to stop the fussy monster.

Julia's first trip to the Splash Park here in Rexburg

Not her favorite day...

Sporting a cute hat

Tasting the leaves in our backyard

Aunt Rachel came to visit for two weeks. Tam also made a trip up for education week. We took Julia to their hotel for a swim. Pool much more successful than splash park. (PS Rach, could you post those pictures somewhere sometime?)

Too-Too provided and made by Aunt Becky.

Went up the canyon to the Atkinson property for the 4th of July. Quick pose for a cute picture with Grandpa Salisbury.

Tyrel wearing something girly and weird on his head.  This seems to be a common occurence.

Just having a good time in the canyon

And that's about everything that happened in the month of July.  Great month!

All Shiny and New!

After 10 LONG months of waiting, Tyrel, Julia, and me have finally made our move to a new apartment. Oh this place is amazing! Two bedrooms, a bathroom that I don't have the squeeze into, closet space galore, a special storage room just for us, kitchen, nice big living room...bliss! It's been fun getting everything all arranged and moved in. Things turned out even better than I thought. I found an amazing deal on KSL where I got two cute couches and a homemade lovesac for $100. To make things even better we sold our old love seat couch for $80 so we basically got a new living room set for $20. All I have to say is it pays to look on KSL!
I'm super excited about Julia's room. I've never had the opportunity to decorate a little baby room before! My mind has been racing with ideas. I'm thinking a light springy green, pink and black for the colors. I've gone to walmart to price some material for curtains, and I can't wait to get started. I'm also going to tryout the whole turning something old into something new thing. My sister-in-law Abby is my inspiration on this one. Abby, you are so creative and awesome when it comes to decorating and doing cute things! I just love your home! Anyway, I will be sure to post some pictures about all of this soon. If any of you would like to come visit and see the live version of our new place, you are more than welcome to! And, with the bigger place, we'd be more than happy to house you! Ha! Much love family and friends! I hope you are all doing well.

The Results

Basketball season has come to an end.  Tyrel and I sure loved playing and having the chance to play in the Championship games. Tyrel played excellent in his game. I actually think he was one of the only ones who actually pushed it hard the whole game.  Their team got down by fifteen or twenty pretty quick to start out.  Tyrel had some amazing back to back three point shots to bring them back within ten at the end of the first half.  I'm not sure what happened the beginning of the second half due to taking care of Julia, but the second half didn't go too well. All I know is at the end of the game Tyrel had some amazing steals and capitalized on some break away layups, but it their team was too far behind and there wasn't enough time on the clock to capture the win. I was sad for Tyrel.  I really wanted him to win, but he's a champion to me no matter what.  It was a lot of fun to see him grow both personally, and in skills this season. I'm super proud of him.  That's what BYU-Idaho basketball is all about.  Giving students the opportunity to grow and become better disciples of Christ.  It's crazy just how intertwined the Gospel is in every aspect of life!
My team was able to gain the victory. It was an intense game! My team came out pretty pumped and by the end of the first half we had a thirteen point lead.  Before the game I planned a really good pep talk complete with candy bars and conference talk quotes.  Apparently it worked.  The second half was a little different.  We started out pretty good, but soon the other team changed up their defense and our players weren't quite sure how to handle it.  A little frustration and fatigue seemed to be setting in.  I personally think there should have been more substitutions in second half (he made one whole sub), but my coach felt differently...(major bummer!). With under a minute to go we were down by 5 and I was sure we had lost. A time out was called and the plan was to have our best player, Jenny (amazing!), go to the hole and get fouled. Well, she went, made it, but wasn't fouled.  We were down by three. With over 35 seconds left on the clock, we knew we would get one more possession as long as we played hard defense.  We did and the ball was ours with 14 seconds left down by three. The other team planned to guard our two shooters, Jenny and Kori. Little did they know Kelly would bust out a three with 8 seconds left on the clock! The other team passed it in and with three seconds left their coach called a time out....a time out they didn't have....technical foul....Kelly shoots and makes both free throws. Game over. We WIN! I felt pretty bad for their coach, but it was awesome to win!
(Top L-R: April, Jenny, Rachel, Ariel, Erica, Coach Josh.  Bottom L-R: Kori, Kelly, Corynne, Suzi.)

So yeah, the're the results of the games. I think if I could have had Tyrel's team win and my team lose I would have taken it.  He really deserved it and I think my coach only played me for 5 minutes of my game, so it's not like I did a whole lot other than cheer and motivate. Still I also learned a lot this season and feel I've become a more positive person.  I love basketball at BYU-Idaho and both Tyrel and I can't wait to play again in the winter!

Basketball Championship!

Today is a big day here in the Salisbury life. Last night Tyrel scored a whopping 17 points to help take his team to the championship! It's been three semesters that he has played competitive basketball and almost three years of intramural sports and he is finally getting the chance to play in the "Big Dance". I'm pretty excited for him.  He's worked really hard this semester and has been a pretty key player on his team, so he definitely deserves it! But here is the best part...my team ALSO made it into the championship! So, at 3:00 and 5:30 we will both be playing for first place.  It's awesome. Julia told me this morning that she is pretty proud to have us as her parents.  She is our number one fan, and has been to every one of our games.  It's fun to have here there.  I think she likes basketball.  Most days she won't go more than an hour without at least a little fussing, but when we are at games she gets so distracted watching the players I don't think she thinks about being tired or hungry. There have only been a couple of games, where she is sitting farther away from the action, that she has fussed a little bit. I love to watch her little head move back and forth as she watches the players move from one side of the court to the other.

Well, that's the exciting news for today. I hope I can post some good news later about us winning.  Of course, it isn't all about winning...so they say! HA!

Here are some recent Julia pictures because a post just isn't a post without pictures!
This tired little girl loves her blanky from Aunt Lisa!

Her cute little skirt! Also, Julia loves her hands more than anything right now.  I'm pretty sure they are only out of her mouth long enough to rub them all over my arm and make me all sticky.

Julia gave her dad a Josh Turner CD for Father's Day

Fun, springy dress from Grandma Salisbury.

My Dad

Happy Father's day Dad! I have the greatest Dad, he is someone who has always given me the best advice that I have cherished and listened to very carefully. Tim Salisbury is someone that a lot of people say I look like and I am happy to say that I am grateful for this because my Dad is a good lookin 50 year old. Watching my Dad with Julia is an amazing sight, he is so loving and careful with her....that is until she starts crying and then for some reason she comes back to either me or Suzi...I am very grateful that I have had the chance to spend so much time with him while I was growing up; whether it was hunting, fishing, working out in the yard, or a plumbing side job I enjoyed every minute even if I acted otherwise and I would do anything to have those chances again. Which reminds me, Dad I am planning on going fishing with you on a Saturday morning that I am down. Dad I love you, I consider you one of my closest friends and I have never been ashamed calling you my father. I am so happy and amazed at how far you have come, I thank my Father Heaven that I have you for an example...your the best!

Memorial Day and Yellowstone

Here are some pictures from the last couple of fun adventures we have had. Memorial Day BBQ at Lisa's and Yellowstone with the Salisbury's/Lindstrom's...

Julia was looking super cute in her blue head headband.

In an attempt to become the "Cool Aunt" Lisa decided to give the little one's their first swinging experience.

Yellowstone was great.  We saw like 6 bears, elk, bison in the middle of the road, a wolf, a coyote, a moose, and all sorts of other animals. The two days were long for the little one, but she took it like a champ.  She only had a couple of moments where she couldn't handle the car seat any longer. Here she is with her little Binky imprint face.

Riding smokey the bear.
People in the gift shop couldn't get enough of cute little Julia.  Everyone that walked by would check her out.  Of course, look at Tyrel in that hat....maybe he is the one they were checking out.

Our little nephew David.  What a cutie! Spending a weekend with him makes us excited to have a little boy of our own one day...hopefully!

I really loved all of the waterfalls and geysers we stopped at along the way.  The animals are great, but for me this is the best part of Yellowstone.

Old Faithful...you did not let us down.  I think seeing Old Faithful is something every person in the Utah/Idaho area needs to experience.  I'm glad I can finally check this off on my list.  I would say Julia could too, but she fell asleep during the ten minute wait.

This is what Julia did 75% of the trip. I think I looked at this little animal more than the little animals outside of the car. That's probably why I was never the first person to spot anything.
